Q:
What is NCFC?
A: NCFC (Nintendo Community Fangame Convention)
is an online convention-styled event for Nintendo fangame creators.
The convention takes place over the course of five days and features
fangames, workshops, chats, a radio program, a guest Q&A, and
other special events.
- Q:
What’s changed this year?
A: There have been a lot of changes since last year’s
NCFC. For a complete list, please see the What’s
New? page.
- Q:
When is it?
A: NCFC will take place through October 21st to October
25th.
Participating
- Q:
I want to show off my project! What do I do?
A: You’ll need to register your “booth.”
Head over to the Registration
page and fill out the form provided. Booth registration ends October
1st.
- Q:
A “booth”? What’s that?
A booth is a website where you can showcase your game demo, trailer,
or other information.
- Q:
Do I need to host my booth on my own webspace?
A: Nope. If you need hosting, we can provide it;
just indicate this on the registration form. If it’s absolutely
necessary, we can also create your booth for you.
- Q:
What types of games am I allowed to showcase?
A: This year, we’ve loosened our restrictions
on booth content. Previously, games had to deal strictly with Nintendo
franchises. Now we’re allowing booths based on Nintendo-related
third party games. For a full explanation, see the What’s
New? page.
- Q:
What’s a workshop?
A: A workshop is a chat-based event for learning
and teaching fangame-related skills. Workshops can encompass any subject.
For example, last year’s workshops included spriting, sound
design, programming, and level design. Workshops will be held in NCFC's
IRC channel.
- Q:
I feel like hosting a workshop. How do I sign up?
A: Go to the Registration
page and fill out the form. Make sure to indicate your preferred date
and time for the workshop. We’ll be in close email contact as
the event gets closer and we create an official schedule. Workshop
registration ends October 1st.
- Q:
Do I have to register to participate in a workshop?
A: Absolutely not. Workshops are open to everybody.
Q&A
- Q:
What is the Q&A session, and how will it work?
A: The Q&A session is a chance for you to ask
questions to people involved in the gaming industry. Questions must
be submitted ahead of time, so visit the Ask
page to ask a question. The format for the event has yet to be determined:
it may take place live in the #NCFC IRC chat, or it may be conducted
ahead of time.
- Q:
Who will be participating in the Q&A?
A: Guild Software, the developer
of Vendetta Online will be participating. They should
give you a closer look at what’s it like to be a professional
game developer. For more information, see the Ask
page. Q&A questions are due October 1st.
Other
Stuff
- Q:
What other events do you have planned?

all returning. Plus, we’re adding a few new, extra special ones,
including a few tournaments! For more information, check the Events
